Our Mission

Holliday's Lawn & Garden is committed to delivering exceptional, professional lawn care and landscaping services to every customer. As a member of our team, you represent our brand and our values every day — on the job site, in the community, and online.

1. Professional Appearance

All staff members are expected to maintain a neat, professional appearance while on duty.

  • Wear company-provided or approved work attire when on a job site.
  • Clothing must be clean, free of offensive graphics or language.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain personal hygiene appropriate for a customer-facing role.

2. Dress Code & Uniform Standards — Landscaping Staff

All landscaping staff are required to maintain a neat, job-appropriate appearance at all times while on duty. Your appearance reflects directly on Holliday's Lawn & Garden in the eyes of every customer.

New Staff: All required uniform items must be worn beginning on your first day. If you need assistance obtaining any item, speak with your supervisor before your first shift.

Required Clothing:

  • Shirt: Company-issued or approved green, olive, or earth-tone work shirt or t-shirt. No tank tops, sleeveless shirts, or shirts with offensive graphics, logos, or language.
  • Pants / Shorts: Sturdy work pants (khaki, olive, or dark green preferred) or knee-length work shorts. No jeans with rips or tears, athletic shorts, sweatpants, or sagging pants.
  • Belt: Required when wearing pants — no exceptions.
  • Socks: Full-length socks must be worn at all times when in work boots.

Required Footwear:

  • Sturdy, closed-toe work boots or safety boots are required on all job sites. Steel-toed boots are strongly recommended and may be required for certain assignments.
  • Sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes are not permitted on any job site under any circumstances.
  • Boots must be in good condition — worn-out soles or boots with exposed steel are a safety hazard and must be replaced.

Required Safety Equipment (PPE):

  • Safety glasses or goggles must be worn whenever operating or working near mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, or any equipment that produces debris.
  • Work gloves must be worn when handling chemicals, fertilizers, mulch, heavy materials, or sharp tools.
  • High-visibility (hi-vis) vest must be worn whenever working near roads, driveways, or areas with vehicle traffic.
  • Hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs) must be worn when operating loud equipment for extended periods.
  • Hard hat must be worn on any site where overhead work or falling debris is a risk.
  • Sunscreen is strongly encouraged for all outdoor work. Bring and apply your own.

Grooming & Personal Appearance:

  • Hair longer than shoulder-length must be tied back or secured under a hat while operating any equipment.
  • Facial hair must be kept neat and trimmed.
  • Hats and caps are permitted and encouraged for sun protection — brims must face forward on job sites.
  • Remove or secure all dangling jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, large earrings) before operating any machinery — loose jewelry is a serious entanglement hazard.
  • Clothing must be clean at the start of each shift. Work clothes will get dirty on the job — that's expected — but arriving in visibly soiled attire is not acceptable.

Weather Conditions:

  • In cold weather, wear layers — thermal undershirts, fleece, or a company-approved jacket over your work shirt. No hoodies with loose drawstrings around equipment.
  • In hot weather, moisture-wicking shirts are encouraged. Hydration is your responsibility — bring water to every shift.
  • Rain gear (poncho or waterproof jacket) should be kept in your vehicle or work bag for unexpected weather.
Failure to wear required PPE or appropriate footwear is a safety violation and may result in being sent home to change, unpaid time loss, or disciplinary action. Repeat violations will result in termination.

3. Punctuality & Attendance

Reliability is essential to our operations and to the trust our customers place in us.

  • Arrive on time for every scheduled shift and job assignment.
  • Notify your supervisor as early as possible if you cannot attend a shift.
  • Excessive tardiness or unexcused absences may result in disciplinary action.
  • Use the staff time clock to accurately record all hours worked.
Always clock in at the start of your shift and clock out when your work is complete. Falsifying time records is grounds for immediate termination.

4. Safety First

The safety of our team members and customers is our highest priority.

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines at all times.
  • Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection, gloves, and steel-toed boots where required.
  • Never operate equipment you have not been trained and authorized to use.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, near-misses, or injuries to your supervisor immediately.
  • Do not perform work in conditions that you believe pose an unreasonable risk of harm.
  • Keep all work areas clean and free of hazards during and after each job.

5. Equipment & Company Property

  • Treat all company vehicles, tools, and equipment with care and respect.
  • Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately — do not attempt unauthorized repairs.
  • Never use company vehicles or equipment for personal use without explicit written permission.
  • Return all tools and equipment clean and in good working order at the end of each shift.
  • Loss or damage caused by negligence or misconduct may result in financial responsibility.

6. Customer Relations

Our customers are the foundation of our business. Every interaction should be courteous, professional, and respectful.

  • Greet customers politely and represent Holliday's Lawn & Garden with pride.

  • Direct any customer complaints or concerns to your supervisor promptly.

7. Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace

Holliday's Lawn & Garden maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol.
  • Reporting to work under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or impairing substances is strictly prohibited and is grounds for immediate termination.

  • Prescription medications that may impair your ability to work safely must be disclosed to your supervisor.

  • All staff are encouraged to report harassment or discrimination to the owner immediately.

  • Do not disclose customer information, addresses, schedules, or personal details to any unauthorized person.
  • Business information including pricing, contracts, supplier relationships, and internal operations is confidential.
  • This obligation continues after your employment ends.
